Camper Corner: Emma

Hello everyone! It’s insane how it has been three months since we’ve embarked on our fitness journeys without the in-person-at-camp-guidance of Empowered Wellness.

I will admit that I was apprehensive about coming home because I believed that I wouldn’t be strong enough to stay on plan; however, I have proven myself wrong. Since we’ve last seen each other, I have lost another 13 pounds!

I’ve even motivated my roommate and best friend to follow in my footsteps, as well as given advice to others who have struggled with their weight. With this program, I have found happiness and a sense of direction. I am proud of my accomplishments, and grateful for the knowledge that Empowered Wellness has provided me with.

Speaking of being grateful, Thanksgiving is fast approaching. For us, this will be a difficult time, but I believe that each one of you are capable of staying motivated and on plan. Even if you go off plan, that’s okay!

It is perfectly fine to treat yourself at times. While it is important to discipline yourself and hold yourself accountable for your actions, it is just as important to take time to do things that make you happy. If turning a blind eye to your plan for Thanksgiving Day is what will make you happy, then do it! Eat those mashed potatoes! Drown yourself in that gravy! Bathe in sweet potato casserole!

Just be mindful about your decisions and how you might feel afterwards, emotionally and physically.

Enjoy yourself during the holidays, don’t feel guilty if you slip up; and remember that it’s not about looking a certain way, it’s about being healthy in every aspect.
